Questions & Answers
What is the Christian Book Expo? The Christian Book Expo (CBE) is a first-of-its-kind event for the Christian publishing industry. There’s nothing repackaged or reinvented about this event. This event has been researched, designed, and launched with a singular purpose in mind – to reach the largest audience possible with the life-changing message in books, Bibles and other Christian resources.
Sponsored by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA), the first Christian Book Expo will be held in Dallas, Texas, March 20-22, 2009, at the Dallas Convention Center. ECPA is inviting publishers, ministries, authors and booksellers to exhibit at this open-to-the-public event. Activities at the three-day Expo will include workshops, seminars, mini-events and evening programming — all led by authors — as well as an extensive, interactive, and consumer-oriented exhibit hall.
Why exhibit at Christian Book Expo?
Reaching the consumer, and staying connected to this critical demographic, is essential to the future of Christian publishing. Exhibitors at CBE will have a unique opportunity to communicate their message to a wide variety of consumers and influencers — anybody making or influencing book buying decisions. CBE will connect the top authors from across the country with core customers, and these influential Christians will experience these authors and their message and take that message back to their friends and church families.
Who will be at the event?
In addition to the individual consumer, special marketing efforts are being focused on key influencers such as clergy, lay leaders, Christian ministry workers, counselors, retailers, libraries, academia, and the media. CBE is designed to appeal to a diverse audience, including the vibrant Hispanic/Latino and African-American constituency in the Dallas metroplex. The event programming will be family-friendly and will feature activities for children, youth, and young adults.
Will direct sales be allowed at the event?
While the goal of CBE is not sales but increased awareness and exposure, Christian products will be sold to consumers at the Christian Book Expo via various methods – either through direct sales by an exhibiting publisher or by an exhibiting retailer, or through an exhibiting publisher who has made sales arrangements in its booth with a local retailer. A centralized store for the entire CBE event is also planned.
